In addition, CRC recognizes the importance of prompt claims payment, since all businesses suffering a loss need immediate funds. History: Capitol Risk Concepts, Ltd., founded in 1976 by John F. Keane, began with a primary focus on marine insurance. While maintaining its continued focus on marine insurance, CRC expanded into other areas during the late 70s and early 80s, particularly the technology arena involving the burgeoning mini-computer industry. As other opportunities presented themselves, involvement in the technology arena expanded into more esoteric, complex businesses, such as rocket propellant manufacturing or scientific instrumentation manufacturers.
By the mid-80s, CRC was a full-service insurance broker, dealing with clientele from around the globe. One of the specialties developed through its marine insurance focus was in the seafood industry. CRC was one of the first insurance brokers in the US to provide full-scale marine and rejection coverage for a seafood business. In the course of providing those services, CRC developed many loss prevention programs for foreign seafood processors, including plant inspection procedures for foreign processors in the major seafood-producing countries. Today, the Company provides the longest-standing, broadest range of comprehensive insurance products for the seafood industry available.
In an effort to continually offer value, during the 90s and into the 21st Century, the Company’s concentration was directed toward developing the following markers of success: continuing education, innovative coverage research, client industry publications and papers, and the ability to communicate our learning to our clients in the context of the global economy. Concentration on Supply Chain Risk Management and the complexity of risks impacting income-producing goods have positioned the Company to respond to client’s changing needs as the business world increases in complexity.
CRC continues its commitment to knowing the client’s business, before insurance is even considered and to ensure that any coverage recommendation is relevant, comprehensive, and cost effective.
